Or in my case, digging around the back of the storeroom may lead to uncovering hidden gems…

Silver owl charm, a gift from my parents when I wanted to start a charm bracelet but never did.

Iggy and Lou Lou bird charm, $59 from Craft Victoria (it’s in the storeroom, not outside in the shop. Sneaky…)

Selling a story

9 May 2008

Blanch is a felt brooch. More accurately, Blanch has big hair and when she is older she hopes to form a group called “The Golden Girls”. Meanwhile, Alicia wants to run away and join the circus. She thinks she could walk a tightrope but has only ever practiced on the end of her bed. Little Ladies felt badges by Anna Laura, $20, Rose St Market

Pigeon racing ring necklaces from Chinny Chin Chin. Comes with tasty pigeon bio! Fancy Mr T (centre)? He’s 19 years old, like Nice and Malted biscuits and dislikes vegetables. Available at Craft Victoria, $42. (or cheaper if you’re my pal, hehehe)

From this blog (and also this one too!) which I quote: History, located in Cambridge’s Porter Square, is like the storefront version of my tale-telling tendencies. To accompany each piece, owner Rachel Hirsch imaginatively cooks up detailed anecdotes of the previous wearers and prints them out on hangtags.

Long day

30 April 2008

..and it’s been a tiring one too. But fake food as jewellery always cheers me up

from this lady. But if you’ve got some coins to throw around, why not go the whole way.

Gold plated junk food jewellery from Lucy Folk.

BLT necklace, knuckle sandwich necklace (haha) from This Charming Man.

And even I, Miss-1-or-2-years-behind-everyone-else, have a piece of food jewellery that I made myself! This one’s the nicer one, I did a sushi necklace and brooch one too but it never looked quite right. It was originally a mobile phone chain from a tacky asian store and I glued a brooch back on. I know, I’m just revelling in my amazing craftiness… O_o

How big is my hand!

Pretty fly

11 April 2008

Lightly, Fly on the Wall mirror, available here

Of Cabbages and Kings, Fly necklace, available here (imagine trying to DIY this!)

David Cronenberg, The Fly, 1986

I wanted to post a pic of Jeff Goldblum as the Fly but they were too gross so I had to refrain.
