Alice sale

14 June 2008

Antipodium dress, $50 from the Alice Euphemia sale a couple of weekends ago

Agreeably not very impressive, but I wanted something purple in my wardrobe! It’s probably a smidge too tight and I’m still figuring out how to wear it… I managed to get to Alice at 9.10am on Wednesday the day the VIP preview sale opened, but it was crazy packed and everyone was elbow to elbow, and while I did pick out some nice things (including this rad sheer fuschia diagonal-dropwaist dress with embroidery of a CAT’S FACE in the middle) I had to be at work at 9.30am which left me with no time to fight it out and try on my goods… sad face

Waiting…

…to get out of here and head to the Douglas & Hope/Alpha60 sale this evening! It started at 10am this morning, and I feel like I’m seriously missing out right now. AAACK. I’m imagining all the pretty things I could be seeing/buying once my day of tapping away at the computer is over. Megan Park’s also part of the sale, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything of hers that my little heart sang out for. I’m also imagining that it will be everything I want but couldn’t justify forking out for (I’m talking about Karen Walker). Mmm overpriced tailoring… Anyway I will definitely head down there today. It ends at 6pm so that should be ample time! Pics to come. YES! and on a sidenote I’m having dinner at Tiamo2 tonight with T + V, my 2 favourite asians, Friday’s looking up already!

The sale was SOOO crap, like lots of bad tshirts (case in point: a tangerine shirt with FOREVER GODARD in yellow bubble letters, or something to that effect anyway. it was terrible) and just a real crappy selection in general. I tried on a pair of navy linen shorts ($50) but decided against them as I picked up a $15 pair of Lonely Hearts Club cuffed black shorts from the Milly Sleeping sale a couple of weeks ago. And there was a black and white beta state dress, but the proportions were all wrong on me. I also tried on a black and white alpha60 tribal/deco print bandage dress but was meh about it. OH and I’ve discovered Megan Park is not a designer of beautiful beaded gowns, but rather a glorified shabby-chic Camberwell Market peddler, and that even at 3 for $10 I am still not tempted to buy bird/cat figurine candles from Douglas and Hope. The thing is that these candles were previously $31 and $27 respectively. Ouch!
